Official landfall for Hurricane Laura occurred at 1 am, CDT in Cameron, Louisiana. Winds reached 150 mph and pressure of 938 millibars. While Laura is tied with a hurricane from 1856 as the strongest to hit the state of Louisiana, it is, fortunately weakening as it heads inshore. As of 9:45 a.m. Thursday morning, Hurricane Laura has been downgraded from a Category 4 to Category 2 and is expected to become a tropical storm sometime today according to the National Hurricane Center (NHC).
